Hey Rick,

sorry for the delay...

I use one small dc-powered atx-psu. It is called picoPSU. This PSU is a fully compatible ATX-PSU which deliveres a combined output power of 120 watts.

The bypass capacitor (4x4700µF panasnic FC) is connected directly to the 12v input-line. The PSU looks like an ATX-header with a small PCB above the header. You could do a internetsearch for picoPSU to get some pictures. There are several different models but i hesitate to recommend one until i am realy sure that they deliver clean power and all parts are fitting together. -> I am looking for a concept thas allows an external 12V psu to charge the battery while powering the mobo (because the picoPSU is powered by this external 12V psu at the same time). running by batterie only should be done by simply unplugging the external 12v psu. I like it simple.

The output of the 9AH battery is dropping from 12.8V to 12.4V in a period of 1 hour and 30 minutes. SQ is GOOD in that periode (more natural less sharp). After that periode system is still stable but voltage is dropping rapidly. A battery with 75AH should be more than enough. A big battery has a lower inner resistance which is good for SQ as well. A lower inner resistance / higher capacity can achieved by running a few smaller batterys in parallel-mode also. (did some mailing with alfred, he mentioned this)

Bye,
Bernd
