I have been lurking here for a while and think maybe I should start contributing. I have been using cmp and cplay on my multi-purpose machine for about 2 weeks. All I can say is wow even using a machine decked out for Cad the sound is the best digital I have ever heard. I am very excited about taking the next step and building a purpose built machine based on Cic's recomedations; although sticking to my firewire i/o unit.
In searching for the prescribed HyperX memory I came across this available from NCIX computers in Canada (ncix.com) who also have US distribution.
Mushkin XP PC2-5300 512MB DDR2-667 CL3-3-3-10 240PIN DIMM Memory
Not cheap but I think this ULL stuff is becoming rare
The Mushkin web site also list a lot of other ULL memory available direct but of lesser quality. The memory listed above is no longer available through Muskin.
Anyways I thought this maybe of interest. I'm picking mine up this weekend since I live near one of the NCIX outlets in Vancouver. My new machine should be built by next week; I will post about my progress and I'm sure I have questions.
Thanks for all the info guys and mostly thanks Cic's for sharing.
