Is there such a thing as a quiet LCD monitor?

I have an ACER that does a good job at being a monitor, but when the brightness is turned down it has become noisy.

Did not initially make this noise.

Is this just the way it is?

It has put me in the habit of turning it off, which can make a listening session interesting with the random selections one gets to make if you become too lazy ( or ...) to stand up and go to the monitor.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.
