Hi cics

Thank you again for adding hi-resolution file playback to the cPlay program. I just love the fact that it will tell me the truth about any project file I have on the HD. Today I discovered it does not like MONO WAV files:

The example here is a single-channel WAV file, as the property sheet informs us:

Q1: Would it be possible to have cPlay handle mono input files - sending the same data to both L & R output channels ?

The second thing I noticed (when playing a WAV or FLAC file) is the Trackname display does not give the filename, but simply "Track 01" as below:

Q2: Would it be difficult to have the actual FILENAME display in the Trackname column ? In this example I'd like to see "PZM_Room_02.wav" indicated - including the file extension. Hmmmmm... it's interesting to note the cPlay titlebar display changes the lowercase "wav" file extension (as actual filename is stored on the HD) to uppercase "WAV". Not a problem, but an observation.

Upsampling Rules in cPlay:
I'm curious about the SRC upsampling in the case of non-redbook files.

Q3: If I set Upsampler Rate for 96.0 and input a 96KHz file, is the SRC code bypassed - a direct passthru ?

Q4: If I set the Upsampler Rate for 44.1 and input the same 96KHz file, does cPaly DOWNsample - and if so, is it of the same high quality as in the upsample direction ?

I presume the same 96KHz file will be bumped up to 192KHz when I select 192.0.

Sorry about what must seem like pointless inquiry (to most of the cMP usergroup...), but knowing this stuff helps me understand what I'm actually hearing, when auditioning non-redbook music.

Thanks again for your commitment to Ultimate Quality digital playback.
Cheers,
Grant

That's not a Toy... IT'S A TOOL !!
