Yep, it's easy. I have a preamp with a phono stage and tape loop, so I just run the "Tape out" signal right to the inputs of my Presonus Firebox. With the Duet, you would need a pair of simple conversion plugs that take the RCA to the 1/4" plugs required for input. This sets you up to record. To use the DAC, you would just take the appropriate output (you might need another pair of conversion plugs) and run it into any high level input on your preamp. Once you are set up, there is no need to plug/unplug.

Given the portability you require, as well as your desire to keep the computer far away from your listening area, you might consider a Mac laptop. It's nice to have the computer nearby when you are recording so you can set your recording levels, etc. Also, you could just take the laptop and Duet right to your radio station and do your DJ work right from the computer.
