cool! thanks for the lead on the duet. i have been checking it out this evening.

from my preliminary research, it looks like firewire cables can run far longer than i need them.

would be ideal if i could both:
1) connect my phono preamp outputs to the duet, then connect the duet via firewire to record on my computer (i know it can do this)
2) without removing any cables...output digital audio via firewire and have the duet to D/A conversion...and remain connected to my stereo amplifier. (i'm not 100% sure about this, but it seems possible based on this: "Two unbalanced -10 dBV line outputs for powered speakers". Am I right?)

that would enable me to get rid of my alesis as well as a separate DAC to
