This may not be a solution for you. I had a similar problem this weekend. I tried to up load a CD and my Mac Mini server would not read it. It didn't eject, it just sat there doing nothing. I ejected it and took it to my MacBook Pro and it read it perfectly. I transferred it over to the server with a seagate portable drive. This is the first of hundreds of CD up loaded with the Mac Mini to give me problems.
