David,

You can rip DVD-As and Classic DAD. I know you asked about 192/24 material. I have some on DVD-As I ripped. Also, check out iTrax for 96/24 stuff. The music may appeal to you. If so, the recordings are excellent.

Also, the DVD-A ripper doesn't work with Vista. At least, not for me.

Redbook lacks high end air and midrange ease that you have identified. If you need help, email me.
