itunes setting for wav or aiff

I am setting up a Mac music server and would like to import my CDs into iTunes via WAV or AIFF. Given that it is iTUne, I am thinking AIFF. In the Preference menu, for either WAV or AIFF formats one can choose to use automatic settings or alternatively, custom set sample rate, size and channel. Which settings, custom or automatic should I set to obtain the most accurate bit-to-bit data copy from the CD to my hard drive?
