Well, my preamp doesn't accept balanced input (Nak CA-7A) so it would only see one side anyway if I used a TRS plug, right?. I am using TS plugs to rca now. Would I still get a bump in dBs with TRS plugs and would it affect sound quality?

There is only one volume adjust (Main Output Level) that does anything under any circumstances. The the direct monitor level does nothing at all. I think this only functions if you are recording, not when you are playing back from the DAC chip..???

I have a host of other problems with this thing and the support from Creative is just short of non-existent. I've searched here and on the Multimedia Production Forums (where there is an 0404 USB specific subgroup) and other places too and I haven't found ready answers to the probs I'm having.
