I know that you must be already bored with similar question, but before I spend lot of time transferring my collection to hard drive I want to be sure that it will work.

In preparation to set PC based system, I am planning to rip all of our CD-s to external USB drive.

To test, I ripped few CD-s to WAV using EAC with setting as shown on several links noted in previous treads, saved cue sheet file and log, no errors, and files confirmed OK.

I organized folders as Artist/Album as shown in the attached capture.
So, why am I slightly nervous?

We used iTunes on PC, Win XP, and we like interface, and getting cover art is a snap, very few items were not found which is important as we have quite a bit of world music not easily available.

Since system is planned to be PC, we tried winamp and foobar and to be honest, we are not too happy, mainly for two reasons.

In both, album art was a BIG problem. Winamp picked up some but lot of the rips we have in iTunes are not picked up. For foobar I can not even say is it good or bad as it says that it found number of covers but can not save because I am using WAV files. So, at this time I am not sure if I will pursue PC route (XP or maybe ubuntu) or go MAC route (although have never owned MAC).

So final question is will all this work be waste if I decide to go MAC/iTunes route or PC/ubuntu?

I suppose not, WAV ripped is the same as CD, but, better safe than sorry.

Thanks in advance.
