I think the Opticis cable sounds great, but only when powered by a battery pack. Using the stock wall wart was not nearly as good. And in comparing the Opticis cable to the Icron Ranger usb to cat-5 converter/cable, the Opticis was the better sounding one. That's why I ordered a new replacement Opticis cable, rather than going another route.
