My friend told me that he got remarkable improvement after he had changed his system as the following diagram.

FROM
Lynx L22--(single s/pdif)-->Emm labs dcc2-->hd600 with equinox xlr cable
TO
LYNX AES16-->(dual aes/ebu)-->Emm labs dcc2-->hd600 with Equinox xlr cable

He attribute the improvement to dual digital connection.

But I could not discern difference between single aes/ebu and dual aes/ebu connection from Apogee big ben to Apogee mini dac.
My system was
imac--(glass optical cable)-->Apogee big ben-->Apogee mini dac-->Ultrasone edition9.

He suggested that I got no improvement because optical connection was single connection.
But I think that there might exist the data processing inside Lynx AES16 extracting dual digital signals from single signals as Apogee big ben transformed single s/pdif to dual aes/ebu signal.

I want to know what Lynx aes16 does before dual aes/ebu outputs.
Is there a technique making dual aes/ebu outputs from a music file that is better than the process of big ben from single s/pdif to dual aes/ebu outputs?
What advantage does dual digital connection give?
In what level of digital information can we use the term 'dual' and 'single'?
