Does your data on the HDD have to get some place in a hurry? My 4 HDDs with music files are connected to my computer with firewire, (I've liked using firewire in that I can just keep adding HDDs daisy chained). I've not worried too much about speed because the player loads the whole wav in memory and then starts playing... but I don't have a problem playing with foobar either... anyway, is your data in a hurry to get someplace? ... can you try firewire? external sata carier?
