"Isn't asio4all limited to 24/48 (which is what cics says)? But I know if I set cplay to 96 it works but I thought that asio4all downsamples to 48 khz."
I have verified bit perfect operation through ASIO4ALL at 44100 and 48000 in my setup via driver loopback. (This is as high as I could run this test, because of device limitations.) ASIO4ALL definitely accepts input at 96 kHz. The music plays back at the correct speed and pitch. How this happens I have no clue, so it may involve downsampling.
I know how to tell if there is unintended downsampling somewhere in my system. I can borrow a friend's Zoom H4 and try recording the output of my DAC. The Zoom H4 will record at 96 kHz, so I will have the bandwidth necessary. This won't test bit-perfection however, as I will be using an analog connection.
