I would not completely REMOVE a device from the device manager.

This is what caused me to lose the quite important
"Microsoft Winmm WDM Audio Compatability Driver" when removing a completely different device! (Strange). Dependencies maybe? Who knows...

That was baaaaaaad news! :o)
