Herman,
Yea I have heard several versions of the Omega. I talk to Mathias all the time he's take on the omega was that with SET and other high impedance output amps is that you could parallel the amp with a fixed resistor and get better linear output. In practice I never really felt it sounded better.
If you have seen my posts I am not at all a fan of the 2A3. Too me RCA screwed this tube up. Originally RCA and Raytheon designed this tube as a single plate and those are by far some of the best tubes out there. The problem was they could not mass produce the tube and therefore they went to the bi-plate (basically two 45's in parallel). Triodes never work in parallel no matter what people tell you one will try and take over the other one. The new single plates are basically 300B's with their filament paralleled. See a 300b is 5v/1.25A and 2A3 is 2.5v/2.5a's so fold the filament and you get a 2A3. Most companies can go so far as solder one side here it's a 300b, one here and it's a 2A3. Anyway... for that reason I have never been a fan.
I presently use VT52's in my system and they sound great. Killer! My back horns were made by Terry Cain and they just sing in the room. Though I do miss that slam factor that horns do. The room is just too screwy and I need to put the speakers on the long wall.
Well back to work...
If you ever want to talk about this stuff send me an email or call. I am always into helping the cause.
Thanks
