Since they are cheaply built it is very easy to improve them. When I am done about all that will be left is the control firmware and DAC chips in the signal path. There's nothing wrong with the DACs and I may even change those to another version of the same chip as others report good results from doing so. The nice thing is if you blow it up you aren't out much.

The problem is finding another piece of hardware that will do what I want. There is something very right about crossing over before the amps and getting rid of speaker level crossovers. That combined with time aligned drivers adds something that once heard is hard to give up.

Can it be better? I'm sure it can but I don't know what that would be. Perhaps a DEQX.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it appears you are criticizing something that you have never heard based solely on price, and I'm talking about a highly modified unit, not a stock one.
