Don't think it is possible to improve either the digital or analog sections of the Behringer easilly. The units are very good for the price but limited by low cost design and manufacture.

Toslink has an optical coupling problem. Jitter can be ok. Stereophile checks jitter with such a link! It has advantage of decoupling components but few sound very good. I do have a Japanese Ortofon cable that does sound fine.
