Do you want to know how things work? Try Wikipedia and all phenomenon like oversampling, upsampling, bit rate, bit depth will be explained.
Do you want to know how it sounds? Trying is the only way, take your laptop, go to a shop and listen to the difference when hooked up to different DACs.
