unless you want to be held hostage by the vendors who are trying to build all-in-one functionality. That is, they'll engineer in gotcha's that will make you come back to them if you need addons.

OTOH, I'm using a standalone network-attached disk drive and use iTunes to access the music and pictures I have there. This allows me to share across the entire house.

For security, however, I've piled that up on the router so that I can share on my side of the Internet. BTW, I use hard-wired connections in the house to avoid the wireless security issues.
