Here are two reasons why someone might be interested in the Networks.
First, last summer, when the company announced the product, Tivoli explicitly refuted the claim, made by various third parties, that the user will have to "get" the company to install a station not already preprogrammed. So unless they company changed its mind, your first statement is false.
Second, the major difference between the Networks and a Squeezebox is that the former is a self-contained Internet radio; the latter does no more than provide the webstream to a playback device like a radio or stereo. In effect, a Squeezebox is a subset of a Networks radio; they're not rival products. So your second statement, about functionality, doesn't address the original question that was asked.
