In continuation with my former thread on the subject - looking for a new DAC or external soundcard under 100$ for headphone listening - I have narrowed down the choice to those devices which are 24 bit capable:
M-Audio Transit
Roland-Edirol UA-1EX
Lexicon Alpha
As for the Turtle Beach Audio Advantage SRM and M-Audio Fast Track (which I found on sale under 100$) I'm still unsure about the specs.
The Transit and UA-1EX seem to be of quite a high quality (SNR etc.), and they both have the advantage over the Alpha, being quite compact and able to accompany a laptop. On the other hand, the Alpha is a larger device, which I'm quite sure will be able to drive nice headphones.
Two questions I have for you:
1. Between the Transit and the UA-1EX (both at the same price point and of similar performance) - which is better?
2. Will those drive a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pro (64 ohm, above 110 db sensitivity)?
