PC volume controls not working-any help please

Hi folks, I have my PC computer hooked up to my usb dac>stereo. I turned it on yesterday and have very limited volume coming out. All connections are ok so it must be some type of cpu setting. This because none of the internal volume controls on the pc work. E.g. mute and volume slider have no effect on the sound. I tried to adjust all the settings in the sounds menu but dont get much.

Any thoughts as to what this is? Other then its annoying...
