I just want to draw your attention to the new de-noising app by Brian Davies

http://wwwmaths.anu.edu.au/~briand/sound/

that complements Davies' long standing ClickRepair app. On and off I have used SoundSoap 2 before which always frustrated me because of its technical "opacity" (that is: one never knew what it was doing and adjustments were more of a trial and error affair) and the limited quality of the result.

The DeNoise app is for denoising along the whole audioband and the bundled DeNoiseLF allows to eliminate rumble and other low frequency problems. The two apps are transparent and allow tight control of what they are doing, giving visual feedback of their intended filtering. Also the mathematical models used seem to be cutting edge, such as using wavelets etc. The Shareware applications allow treatment of up to 24/96 files. I am using the Mac version for vinyl recordings and I'm very happy with the results.

OK, that's just an information. By the way, I am not in any way related to Brian Davies, of course.
