I have XP with SP2 on two Toshiba laptops and I use AE almost every day, and I setup new AE's from customers frequently because I sell a reclocker for them. All I do is power-on the AE, then open network connections window on the laptop and then look for available networks and then connect to the AE network. You must give the computer time and the AE time to establish the network - takes a minute or two. Then just select the "speakers" at the bottom of the AE window to match the AE name. That's it. Nothing magical. Also, position the laptop or desktop computer in the same room as the AE or you might get a low RF power. This could cause dropping of connection.
