Computer Audio Asylum

I repositioned my computer, having had months of problem free usb spdif output from an emu0404usb from the FRONT usb ouput of my Vaio, and following what I have read, reconnected the 0404 to the back usb port.

Now I get interuptions and distorted corruptions during playback. This made me do unnecessary checks on all connections, components, and software in the system.

Then I realised what I did with the usb connection. Put the 0404 into the front usb socket and all is well!

So don't believe what you are told. The episode further reveals another issue with usb audio. Presumably one needs to try the different ports to the PC to find what is best. Presumably the headers and or cable looms leading to the ports are very important to audio performance.
