Yes, if external noise is a problem then closed in the way to go.

As far as your interface goes, if you're not going to get a separate headphone amp, just be sure the thing has an actual "headphone jack". Yes, the 1/8" pre-outs are level controlled by the OS Software mixer, but that "level control" does not always mean the pre-out can drive headphones - especially larger format phones as opposed to ear buds.

Just look for that famous "headphone" symbol on the outputs and you should be okay.
