I don't agree unless the existing accoustics are really bad. Provided the room is well furnished with the floor mostly carpetted, and you have reasonable wall coverings such as curtains, soft armchairs, etc your room should be perfectly acceptable, specially if it's not a squre box. Bay windowns and other non-parallel walls also help a lot.
Your best improvement, as suggested by several contribulore is replace your Rotel. It really isn't good. Think twice, then think again about going to valve amplification. The B&W speakers are low efficiency and need plenty of wellie to get them going. A good solid-state amp will probably do your speakers justice. The B&W speakers are very good for big scale music. If you listen mainly to female vocal and less robust music, then OK consider going to valves, but change the speakers too! I have Avantgarde Uno speakers (after KEF 107 and ATC 50 - more comparable with B&W) and I cannot be more pleased. They are very high efficiency and valve amps make them truly sing - even a 6 watt PX-25 amp.
