Hi.

In the end you're talking of the "loudness" factor.
You don't have a clue how the original was recorded.
You for sure don't get closer to the original. It's a funny effect though.
I've been through that by myself.
You know that the engineers ran the signal through compressors
and whatever kind of equipment. To revert towards the original is simple impossible.
By adding further gain you get higher dynamics but you also make
the flaws more obvious.

Similar effects you have on XRCDs. Some people could swear
they sound better then SACD. On a real good chain these just sound IMO
artificial.
