If you want the opinion of someone who does not download.
The reason is because they are a compressed version and the quality is not the same as the real thing.
I am very, very surprised and shocked at the prices that have been quoted on the varies downloads. Why someone would pay that much for a compressed version is beyond me.
I think it is a good way for Artist to get their Music out there and perhaps get a little more $$ for their trouble instead of it going to the greedy big labels.
But the price of this downloads, to me, shows perhaps not only the big labels are greedy. For a product that is devoid of the Major expenses of the actual CD, kind of makes me wonder.
I like the fact that you are asking what would be a fair price and if the downloads were not a compressed version, I think these prices might not be far off the mark.
But for a compressed version, I have no use for them other than to hear the new release so I can go out and buy the real thing.
To me $3.99 - $5.99 for a compressed version would be what I think is fair. I would gladly pay much more for an uncompressed version that was well recorded.
Of course there are many out there, that do download alot and to them these prices might be fair. But if you are trying to win over people to try this new option of buying Music, you are doing right by asking what others think is fair price. Good Luck!
