Re Rip to FLAC for what you want as the best quality and buy a Squeezebox for $300 (slimdevices.com) and stream wirelessly from the puter to the pre via the Squeezebox, will also play just about any other music format and give you internet radio/music etc. Your puter doesnt even have to be near your music - no puter background noise. You need a wireless network at home , cheap to set up these days.
Thats the future , not soundcards etc.
