...you might also consider converting your own vinyl to digital. Much of what is considered a vinyl sound has to do with the limitations imposed by the LP format. These include the RIAA equalization curve, the dynamic range and S/N limits of vinyl and so on.

About of half of the 20,000+ tunes on my music server were converted from my vinyl and open reel collection. Frankly I find there to be very little difference between the vinyl or open reel and the resulting digital file when I've done the conversion myself. It does an excellent job of preserving the original sound quality but gives me the convenience and accessibility of a well-tagged digital collection.

My experience in converting the collection has resulted in my opinion that the perceived difference between vinyl and digital has far more to do with recording and processing technique than anything technically inherent in the formats.
