Given that the concept of a rock sitting on a computer can improve its sound is slightly ridiculous to many of us (including me), I think a full blind test is in order.Put a blindfold on or something and ask your daughter to make you listen to your computer in two situations (A and B, and let her decide whether A or B has the rock on the computer or not). Report back to us if you hear any difference between A and B (and DON'T LET HER TELL YOU whether A or B is with or without the rock). Then, when all impressions are written down and a conclusion has been made, ask her whether A or B was with the rock and write back to tell us.
The key here is to get you to write down impressions for A and B (and perhaps to conclude whether they are equal or to determine that one is better than the other) WITHOUT KNOWING WHICH ONE INCLUDES THE ROCK. The concern is that you want to the rock (or expensive cable, or whatever) to sound better, so if you know which one you're writing about it will skew your opinion.
