Yes....the more accurate the clock, the more accurate the signal (timing), the better the sonic reproduction. I've experienced 3 or 4 different external clocks (including a rubidium unit), and one can easily hear the benefits, and differences.

Playback and ripping software, however, is still an area people must keep their eye on for superior reproduction....it's not all about the gear.
