iTunes and noisy mac mini

Hello!

After lurking on here for some time, I finally took the plunge and bought a new mac mini yesterday. I have ripped a few CDs in apple lossless as I was intending to use Coverflow with a touchscreen monitor (which I already bought).

Trouble is, the mac is quiet when running iTunes but as soon as i use coverflow, the fan ramps up and is very noisy.

Its really annoying! My question to seasoned users is-

1. Is there anything I can do to turn the fan down? the mac won't be running any other apps so it shouldn't be having heat problems. (I have already tried FanControl to raise the base speed, but it still ramps up immediately)

or if not, is there another program that i could use to rip/play media with a feature similar to coverflow?

Just want to get this figured out before i rip all my CDs in the wrong format!!
