Thanks for the info on iBook. Doesn't seem to be a good route as:
1. There's a motor whirring away close to the listening position
2. With battery of only a couple of hours a mains cable is required to the listening position – something to trip on
3. The SIGNAL needs to be transmitted to a device such as Airport Express. I'd rather avoid this.
I would prefer to have the SIGNAL "hard-wired" with the CONTROL transmitted. So we're back to something like Mini with USB DAC located close to the amplifier. The only remaining dilemma is what device is suitable to control the Mini. It needs to have a reasonable sized screen, be 802.11 capable, be battery powered and portable. Some form of palmtop computer, I guess, maybe a Nokia N800, but I would like suggestions, or verification the N800 will do the job.
Any help here appreciated.
