Thanks Gordon

I have ben trying to avoid transmitting the SIGNAL, but am happy to transmit the CONTROL. That's why I'm not over-the-moon about the iBook suggestion as this means signal transmission or a long USB cable plus a mains cable to trip over, the iBook at the listening position giving out mechanical noise, a small hard drive and a lack of portability. Rules out Airport Express too.

From what I've read (still not enough), I'm inclined to use a quiet computer (I think mini is quiet) with local firewire HD (eg the matching LaCie) and USB DAC all in my equipment rack, feeding the amp. I don't need multi-room, but still haven't found a way to get the mini to do what I want it to do.

So, what's the answer? Would a 802.11 handheld computer such as Nokia N800 (no doubt there are other devices with small built-in screens) do the job?

Thanks

Peter
