Since the day that cd players were divided up into transports and dacs, toslink has been the runt of the transmission "litter".

Now I keep reading about how wonderful toslink (spdif) is....what gives people? When did toslink get crowned king? USB has the potential (not always realized) to be better than any form of spdif transmission...isn't that one of the reasons the PC audio forum exists...to get better sound than from a transport and dac???

who happily uses a usb cable between computer and dac even though his dac converts usb into spdif!!
