Thanks for such a comprehensive rundown.

I'm surprised to hear that its been price prohibited. Or, its more like I'm surprised nobody tried to implement this from the very beginning, thus making it no longer price prohibited. Sure, they may be disobeying the USB spec, but I've *got* to assume other hardware manufacturers are doing this. I believe what I've described is almost identical to the way that printers with small onboard memory spool large documents. Get a chunk, check it, get another chunk.

Its nice to know the Emu 0404 has set the precedent for doing this, hopefully others will do so as well. The later the time domain enters, the better off.

I don't have the money to buy anything much more expensive than the 0404, so I might consider it for my next upgrade. Maybe by the time I'm ready there will be more options.
