To be clear, I don't know squat about the USB interface, so take what I say with a grain of salt :-).

But what you're describing you'd like to have is, as I understand it, asynchronous mode - "pulling" the data from the source. Several of the guys who have been working on this problem and have posted on this topic have indicated that the problem of asynchronous mode lies with the USB sound drivers having not been written for it. I'll let them (Swenson et. al) provide more useful info than I can. Hopefully they will chime in.

My goal is to eventually get a SlimDevices Transporter and avoid the pitfalls of the "push" model.
