The MacBook will run about 2.5 to 3 hours per charge. The MacBook talks to an AirPort Express wirelessly (http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/) The Express talks to you dac via mini-to-optical digital toslink.
The MacBook is big, storage is a issue too only about 800 cds from the factory, but it is a user upgradeable harddrive.
I really hoping that the iPhone and the next ipods will have some remote software, it is the next logical step. If so then the mac mini to the Express is the way to go and the mini dosen't have to be in the same room as the stereo. The mini and the external hard drive do make a little noise. the current rumors on the web are that Apple is going to stop selling the mini so that is worth keeping a eye on.
