The mini may not be the best answer anymore! The macbook with a 300GB hard drive may do the job, then wireless to an airport express then to a DAC (you have to find a DAC you like). The MacBoock is the remote. The remote has been the issue since PC audio started. Also the iphone and the next gen. ipod are going to have so much computer power they should be able to be the remote everyone wants. So you may want to wait and see if there is remote software for the iphone and the next gen ipod.
There is also software @ http://www.salling.com/ that might work however i think the phones small screens and bluetooth speed is not really up for big cd collections.
