They say it's an improvement over the NuWave DSD DAC but we have no idea what they mean by that.
I like the way the NuWave DSD DAC is 'voiced' with ever so slightly more weight in the lower mids compared to the more expensive and highly rated Ayre QB-9 DSD, which is no slouch. After owning both for several months I decided to sell the Ayre and keep the modest PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC.
I also had the ESS based Oppo HA-1 DAC which was a dud in comparison to the PS Audio or Ayre. All are ESS based but they all sound different.
