Hi, I purchased a PSAudio Nuwave dac used a few months back, it is connected to my pc, using JRiver, out usb PSAudio driver, to Nuwave to Feliks Elise tube amp, 6n7tubes for drivers, TS 5998 tubes for power and have zero problems with using this unit with a computer output, in fact using the Felik's as a pre-amp out to a Harman-Kardon 7200 sounds great. No distortion, no problems. Either the unit took a hit in shipping (doubt it) or he has something not connected right. PSAudio recommends usb input so that could be the problem. Ask him to try downloading the PSAudio usb driver and using usb as input,unit has to be powered on before install of usb driver. First time I installed driver the dac was not powered up, checked with psaudio tech support, they set me straight. See no reason why this should not work PSAudio is a very good piece of equipment. Hope this helps
