It wasn't too long ago that some of us were making new DAC purchasing decisions based on whether they included support for DSD. I did. I played around with DSD for a while and then lost interest. Yawn. The improvement wasn't compelling enough for me to ditch my entire PCM collection and repurchase everything in DSD.

Are we headed in the same direction with MQA?

The DAC manufacturers who are scoffing at MQA are probably concerned with the licensing cost. But once their competitors are on-board with MQA they'll cave and have a change of heart. Critical mass will force their hand requiring their marketing literature to have the MQA checkbox checked.... and licensing fees paid.
