I have on my general purpose PC running W8.1 x32 Q8200S Quad Core

motherboard usb ports on a Gigabyte system

usb3 ports on a pciex1 card

usb2 ports on a pci card

My dac, fed from a battery powered Regen sounds fine from the pic usb port

It has the same sound signature from the motherboard port, although this has other things working on it.

The sound from the usb3 port is distinctly off and has that digital sound, with hf emphasis.

Go figure.
