My interest was spurred by the many Grateful Dead releases using HDCD, and Lucinda Williams.
I have HDCD on my Oppo 83SE, but I am currently using the analog ICs in line with my phono preamp and HRT Linestreamer+. I need to get a good pair of .5 meter ICs to start using the Oppo as more than a transport. Right now I'm pulling digital audio off an HDMI de-embedder.
I read somewhere where JRiver was requesting the coding for HDCD, and that was a few years old. A little disappointed they haven't followed through.
Does the Oppo do the HDCD decoding, before outputting the digital?
My original Camelot Aurthur V3 did decode HDCD, but they removed it when they brought out the Arthur V3 24/192. I still have the 24/192 version, but it needs repair as the coxial input stopped working. They think it may be a resistor. I replaced that dac because I wanted something with an USB input, and to decode DSD.
