All older Intel based MacBook Pro's had 1/8" + Optical TOSLINK combo audio jacks for about 10 years now, but I don't know what audio resolution the older jacks supported.

Certainly all "Retina" MacBook Pro models have the combo 1/8" + TOSLINK jack.

So in conclusion. ;-) ....That jack picture the O.P. posted is not from his MacBook Pro, or any other MacBook Pro in recent history as it does not support Optical TOSLINK.

P.S. I did an internet search and found that photo of the split apart jack in a post responding to someone asking about an 1/8" jack that he had stuffed aluminum foil into. It is just an example of a generic laptop 1/8" jack but not from any Mac laptop.
