RE: JRiver 20 to 21? And other rookie questions

JRiver's business model is effective, each year they launch a new model and you have to pay the upgrade fee to get it. Generates constant revenues.
If you can get 21 for free, do, it is just 20 but with some more frills added.

Fidelizer might cripple JRiver as it messes to much with system parameters.

Ethernet: more stable then WiFi.
You might try both but I would be surprised if you do hear an audible difference between WiFi and Ethernet.

I prefer native resolution as most of the time DAC do resample. Adding the resampling of you media player might be one to many.
On the other hand, the media player might do a better job than the resampler of the DAC.
This is by and large a matter of trying. Nobody can predict what it will do with the gear you are using.
You might have a look at Signalist HQ player, probably the best in this kind of DSP
